Jessica Vince grew up in a household surrounded by art

Original Art Kind; Since her earliest childhood memories, her father, Steve Baker, a surrealist painter turned naīve painter, has always had a painting on an easel.

For this reason, Baker Collection is a tribute to her family name. Her sister Nicole Baker – Nicki Comelli is also a successful Australian artist specialising in abstract and pop art.

Jessica started her career early as an artist working on large abstract paintings. At this career stage, she sold work to The Block, a popular home renovation show on Channel Nine.

Moving on from these early stages, you will now find Jessica painting abstract florals in her studio. For over a decade, she has refined her techniques with a strong emphasis on colour and composition. Through these explorations, she works within three collections: Cartel Flowers, Graffiti Flowers and Street Flowers.

Painting for Jessica is a full-time job, voted by Blue Thumb as one of Australia’s top-selling artists. She is the walking palette, covered in acrylic paint everywhere she goes, picking her two children up from school or hustling her husband, a livestock buyer in the paddocks trying to move sheep.

About Jessica’s three distinct painting styles

CARTEL FLOWERS

Cartel Flowers master the art of acrylic paints and spray cans; nothing is painted on a surface under 122 x 122 cm square. Within this series, Jessica still works with her love for large-scale artwork.

Jessica has captured the art scene with her works of large, colourful, textured abstract botanicals and hasn’t looked back. She has worked on this collection, ‘Cartel Flowers, ‘ for many years, successfully selling hundreds of artworks. She works on this range continually, with pieces exhibited in several Australian galleries today.

STREET FLOWERS

She moved on to her ‘Street Flowers’ collection from the’ Cartel Flowers’ series, still showcasing her signature style and love for colour and texture. ‘Street Flowers’ features a combination of geometric and organic shapes. This range is painted on a square 122 x 122 cm Belgium linen or cotton canvas with a solid-coloured background.

GRAFITTI FLOWERS original art kind

‘Grafitti Flowers’ is one of her freshest series. This collection is big, bold and colourful. Like her other two collections, ‘Cartel Flowers’ and ‘Street Flowers’, the spray can graffiti style mark making and paintbrush work are combined. Jessica’s love for texture is less prevalent in this range. The fresh opaque titanium white layers worked into bolder colours capture this extensive collection.
