Cartel Flowers are a painting series that exudes colour and texture. Jessica uses a mixture of fluid and heavy-bodied acrylic paints to create her loud impressions of flowers. She paints her Cartel Flowers on either 100% cotton or Belgium linen. Sometimes Jessica works with the natural colour and texture of the Belgium linen allowing it to bring an organic element to her artwork. Other times she completely saturates her painting surface with paint.
Jessica’s dynamic personality shines through in her painting, as she brings a unique energy to each piece. Her vigorous spray-can work reflects this integrity. Despite her bold execution, her Cartel Flowers achieve a beautiful harmony.

Graffiti Flowers is a beautiful painting series that takes Jessica’s layering techniques to another level. She layers solid, vibrant colours with big, bold floral techniques. She envelops her confident compositions and colour juxtapositions in fluid, crisp Titanium white acrylic, a signature of the series. Spray can marks and paint brushwork stand out clearly, as she applies layers upon layers until the painting evolves.
Street Flowers
Street Flowers are more in line with Jessica’s Cartel Flower painting series.
As seen below in the paintings bold splashes are laced over a solid background. These create vivid blasts of colour and intense compositions that combine organic and inorganic shapes.

Australian artist Nicki baker-Comelli
Nicki is a contemporary Australian abstract artist who specialises in various mediums. She generally likes to work large-scale with a mix of acrylic, spray paint, oil pastel and paint. Lately, her work has embraced the medium of oil paint in all its glory. Her love of street art significantly influences her artwork, and you will often find graffiti-style strokes combined with heavily textured drawn and painterly marks within her compositions.

The Pantry collection with artworks titled ‘This is not….” is drawn from her childhood upbringing, her artist father’s love for Surrealism, and her love of pop art. Nicki’s art also currently focuses on iconic Australian food packagings such as Barney Banana, Cadbury dairy milk, Smiths chips and Arnott’s shapes. This series is fun and playful and is not for the faint-hearted.
Her IXL series of jam jars is drawn from her entrepreneurial skill sets and her firm belief that thoughts are things.
