rtists Nicole Baker and Jessica Skye Baker have a natural love affair with painting. ‘Peace Poppies’ is a series of original paintings on which they collaborated together. They are proud to present to you the Baker Collection.
Both Nicole and Jessica have combined their artistic skills and techniques to create a fresh new alluring approach to the painterly red poppy together.
How are the Original Paintings – Peace Poppies Created?
Each one of the original paintings in this series is crafted on a large-scale stretched canvas. This foundation is then painted with a wet on wet technique. It produces a mixture of fluid watercolour techniques and bold, rich colour applications in a dramatic, sensual blend.
The canvas is soaked with water and acrylic inks and paints are then bled into the surface to form the leaves, stems, and buds of the flowers. Dry, thick acrylic paints in deep red with touches of magenta are then layered onto the painting surface with a palette knife to form the flower petals.
To bring further depth to the composition, and introduce intricate layers into the abstracted impressionistic poppies, a glass resin has been applied. Once it has dried, the paintings are re-worked, and the layering of colour begins again. Although it is a similar technique to the one used in the beginning stages, this time it is applied to create extra buds, flowers, and stems. Countless smaller details are added with the gold pigmented stamens being the penultimate touch. The final flourish is the Baker signature.
Where Can I Hang My Peace Poppy?
Peace Poppies are delightful paintings that will bring modern ambience to your rooms. They will set a lustrous, vibrant tone to a professional space such as a clinic or studio. The artwork would instantly transform a boutique bedroom, reading corner, or nook into an area of arresting beauty.
The large-scale Peace Poppies can hang solely in a minimalistic room or be paired with soft furnishings. Think natural linen, velvet cushions, and sheepskins. Peace Poppies can also be positioned directly onto the wall or further enhanced with a floating frame finish.
